Expand Your Wings
In yoga we often talk about reaching your edge and going beyond it. You must always listen to your body and only do what feels right for your body in every moment, as well as in yoga practice. So your body might say 'go for it, Maggie, hold that pose just a little longer or take the next step into that pose and see if it resonates with you today.' Or your body might say 'not today, johnny, but another day you'll feel more inclined, you've reached your challenge spot for today, so sit back and be with it'. Or you may simply be in a gentle yoga mood today and only want to practice the smoothest most calming yoga you can experience. These are all examples of life and how we flow with life.
In talking about our edge, we have our limits. We must honor them and reach only as far as we can go without injuring ourselves. It you go too far too fast you could cause injury. Each body and person is unique. So what one can do, another may not be there yet or may never be there depending upon their unique body structure.
These examples correlate beautifully as analogies in life. We have goals in life that we hope to achieve but it's the baby steps that will get us there, nice and easy. We can do the background work that is required in order for us to reach that goal and yes, go beyond that goal. The expansion and contraction occurs. There is time for enjoyment and there is time for reaching further to your dreams. We uniquely offer only what is special within us. We each have that special something to give.
As an example, for some of those baby steps require further schooling. Each test being a baby step towards your goal. Graduating is a big achievement. Finding a job in line with that schooling is your next desire. Achieving that job is your next win. Obtaining high honors, a raise or a new job that brings more status and higher responsibilities within to you this career field may be your next desire. And on and on it goes. You may even come up with a new career desire and you start a new process of learning, achieving and processing again.
It is still the joy of the journey itself that we must remember. Remember to enjoy life now. Staying present, while reaching for our goals, but enjoying the moment as it is right now is key! Because you know once you reach one goal, there will be a small rest period and another challenge may come up or another desire you'd like to achieve may pop in. And the learning's continue. You can be in your peace and bliss now no matter where you are in the stages of your life and goals.
Now in regards to meeting your edge. Sometimes we grow complacent, lazy or bored. In these times you have probably met your edge and stayed there. Stagnancy ensues. Take time to check in with yourself and see what it is that is causing you to feel complacent. Really see what it is that you are missing. You may already know or you may need quiet time with yourself. Here's where you must be truthful with yourself. Is it the job that you are no longer in line with? It the location of the job or place of living not in alignment with you anymore? Should you move your location? If so, where to? Is there a relationship that needs work or even severing those ties? Is there sometime new you need to try in order to figure out what your next step might be? Is there something you are missing within yourself that is causing discomfort? Maybe you are too much in the material world of career, car and home and not in your spiritual self as much as would bring balance and peace within? Are you overweight and requiring better body balance? Would doing a workout that works with you and your schedule be beneficial? Have you lost touch with yourself and require more meditation time for the Self?
Do some research. Start small and work your way up!? Or take a big leap if you are sure that is YOUR edge. Never let anyone tell you that you can't achieve your goal. Because you can. What is your edge that will take you to the next level in your evolution through this ascension process?
Do I have a point here? I want you to grow and be more in line with your truest soul! You can have this now! I want that for myself, so of course I want that for all of YOU! :) Get closer and closer to the YOU that you've always BEEN. No more complacency. That word is not in line with your Soul. Use that complacency as a bouncing off point. It is your polarity to what you truly desire: Joy, Peace, Abundance, Acceptance, Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love! Check in with your feelings always and ask what you are feeling now. Be PRESENT. Breathe. Inhale deeply and exhale. Let it out. Really feel the bliss that exists right now and let it all hang out.
"If you find me not within, You will never find me,
For I have been with you from the beginning." ~ Rumi
Take time in your journal to right down some thoughts on what can assist you in being more your authentic self today! What are you feeling today? Let it all flow out of you! This can be very healing. What is that one step or steps to get you in touch with your Soul? Write them down! Writing them down helps you make them more real and gets you closer to achieving them. Your edge doesn't necessarily have to be huge or major changes like starting a new career. It can be something as simple, yet extremely powerful, such as spending more time with the kids, or meditating once or twice daily, or stepping out and taking an exercise class, or clutter clearing a closet and the list goes on. The idea is to meet your edge while gaining better clarity and closeness with your Soul, the Divine expression that you are. My edge over the years as grown and evolved. We'll start with one goal (of the many goals) I set for myself years ago. I was 225lbs., a smoker, in poor patterned relationships, lazy and needed a change. It took a few years of starts and stops but I finally came out the other side 90 pounds lighter. My goal was to shed 60 pounds and then I bumped it to 80 and still superseded my goal. My first step was to do something about moving my body again. So I picked up the beautiful and uplifting Denise Austin workouts. She rocks! Three to four times a week to start was my edge. She kept me motivated when I didn't have the energy. You start out with low energy and a heavy body to move and it's a challenge. As I started working out I realized my food intake was only going to keep me right where I was. So slowly but surely I got there. I didn't do it the "Biggest Loser" way and workout 7 hours a day and only eat a tiny amount. Instead I did it the way I knew I could do it for the LONG RUN. I wanted this weight releasing to finally STICK. (My edge.) No more yo-yo's. So I said whatever I eat now will be how I keep my lifestyle eating habits after. I took away those foods that were my weakest spot (like Doritos) and kept what I knew I needed to keep in order to not binge (for me that's ice-cream). So I decided two meals a day and two to three small snacks. My nighttime snack (before 8p.m.) was always a healthy choice ice-cream pick of my choosing. This new way of life also included (and still includes) energy healing and creative visualizations in manifesting a thinner body. Something I never included before, but ties together the spiritual aspect always missing from shedding the pounds. (I explain this in more depth in my Fit to Light class.)
"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn
for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present
moment wisely and earnestly." ~ Buddha
Now this got my weight down to 70 pounds lower!! I decided I needed to go further with MY edge and added a few more workouts in the week. I spiced up the routines with different Denise Austin DVDs. This then cultivated to working out everyday and loving it. I expanded my edige and have included in my daily routines beautiful yoga practices for the past few years now. My total weight reduction was 90 pounds! Yay! Recently, I started to become complacent again with my routines, got off my lifestyle eating plan, and having gained a few extra pounds. I started to not fit into my pants! So I needed to expand out and find my new edge. I realized that my body was used to Denise Austin routines and needed a little something more without taking up more of my precious time. So now I practice two hard core workouts from my Husband's P90X routines with Tony Horton and three new routines of Chalene's pumped up Turbo Jam routines in combination with two to three of Denise Austin's DVDs as well. This is working out awesome and I've decreased my pants size again to where I was before and am even more toned. This body, mind and soul needed to expand out again to reach a new edge, a new calling and I am going for a new goal of being a Yoga Teacher. My new edge. Who knows where this will lead but I know that I will do my best to be in the present moment with my life and enjoy it as much as I can! Your desire may not be weight loss, but take this example and work with it for your goals.
Do you see what I am saying here? Each time I met my edge and grew stagnant I reached out further to something new and uplifting when the time was right and I felt called. Whatever it is that makes me feel good, uplifted and in better alignment with the me I always was, have been and will be.
How do you want to meet your edge today? How do you want to feel good, uplifted and in better alignment with the you that you always were and are? Embrace your unique divinity, expand your wings and reach for the sky!
Enjoy, live, laugh and love always!
Follow your bliss,
